Ergonomic Consultancy

Grant Henderson is an experienced chiropractor, medical acupuncturist and ergonomic consultant. Qualifying as a workstation assessor 20 years ago Grant also holds the industry recognised NEBOSH Health and Safety At Work qualification. Grant has performed thousands of work station assessments for employers over the years and is well known to and recommended by many of Jersey’s financial institutions, States departments and smaller offices alike.


As well as workstation assessments Grant can provide a wide range of specialised ergonomic chairs, sit-stand desks, mice, keyboards and other equipment to help people minimise the impact of work on their health. Where such equipment is recommended, we will provide a quotation for it. Grant is often called upon by a wide range of employers in Jersey who are keen to improve their employees well being in the work place.  He offers a variety of talks and presentations.

 

Workstation assessment levels

Level 1

The Level 1 workstation assessment is the same as the Level 2 (see below), without a written report. 

Level 2

The Level 2 workstation assessment is only suitable for individuals with no significant issues. These involve a short discussion with the staff member at their desk regarding their comfort at work, their work habits and a look at the existing desk layout. Small changes may be made to the workstation to improve comfort; advice is given on posture and regular breaks. This process usually takes around 15-20 minutes. A short report is written for the HR file, which will document the assessment and provide specifications for any additional equipment that may improve the ergonomics of the workstation. 

Level 3

The Level 3 workstation assessment is for individuals with significant medical issues, this would include recent or recurring issues such as:

·       Lower, middle or upper back pain

·       Sciatica

·       Neck and shoulder pain

·       Arm, wrist and hand pain

·       Return to work after significant injury, illness or surgery

·       Migraines and headaches

·       Pregnancy

Pregnancy is also generally considered to require a Level 3 assessment. The assessment involves having a short discussion with the staff member (ideally in a separate room) about the history of the issues they have and how they are affected on a day to day basis.

We discuss what effect the issues have on their comfort at work, discuss work habits and take a look at the existing desk layout. If possible, we will make changes to the workstation during the assessment to improve comfort. Advice is also given on posture and regular breaks.

A level 3 assessment usually takes around 30 minutes. A report is then written which will document all of the above, which should form part of the HR file of the individual concerned. In the report we will provide specifications for any additional equipment that may improve the ergonomics of the workstation.

Level 3: £100.00

Level 2: £65.00 

Level 1: £50.00
